Acme Cafe, which opened a couple of weeks ago at 51 West Hastings, is one of the first of this newest new wave. That it experienced line-ups in its first few days is a pretty good indication that there’s a market for more in these parts. That it happens to be good only raises the bar for whomever and whatever comes next.
The presentation of the soup was simple, but I think that's the point. I also loved the fact that we could get some Premium crackers with the soup. I mean, you can't have a diner without crackers now, can you?
The moment I step into this darling little Mom ‘n Pop shop, I know it is destined to be the next go-to brunch and lunch nook in the city. Straight out of the pages of an Archie comic, it’s Pop Tate’s Chock’lit Shoppe meets American Graffiti’s Mel’s Diner.
